Also known as Theȟíya Kté, Garry was a descendant of great chiefs like Chief Crazy Horse and Chief Red Cloud. As a close friend of Russell Means as well as an Indian patriot and a diplomat from the Republic of Lakotah, he has been fighting for his people’s treaty rights all his adult life.

Growing up in a traditional Lakota family on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota (USA) in the 1950s, Garry tells about his involvement in history-making events such as the seventy-one-day takeover of Wounded Knee in 1973 and the Mní Wičóni movement to protest the Dakota Access Pipeline in 2016/17. Corina took care of editing and interviewed the author. Delia J. Welch and Juanita Schmalnauer contributed pictures. Ronny designed the book and got it ready for print and release.
